What does your brand say about you? π’
Hi Income Flippers,
I'm in Sunny, Orlando getting ready for the Bigger Pockets Convention and it's the first time GRID has hosted a booth at an event.
I am both excited and nervous which is typically a good sign.
I have learned that the combination of both of those things helps me perform at my best.
The purpose of attending is to expand our BRAND so we can help more real estate entrepreneurs build businesses that set them mentally and financially free!
As Jessica and I were talking logistics, we somehow got on the topic of building a brand so I thought I would share why you should be obsessed with getting your brand right.
In this newsletter, in 5 minutes or less, I will unpack:

What does building a brand actually mean?

You are in control
Let's get right to it.
Your brand is your reputation.
It's not the pretty logo, colors, or fonts you've chosen for your website.
It's what people say about you when you are not around.
So the question is...
What do people say about you?
Your brand is not what you think it is, it's what the market says it is.
Does the market think you are:
Responsible?
A leader?
Timid?
Kind?
Hardworking?
A Jerk?
Difficult?
Reliable?
Honest?
Egotist?
Caring?
The real deal?
Full of shit?
Invisible?
Consistent?
Inconsistent?
Funny?
Fair?
Unfair?
Giver?
Taker?
A victim?
A victor?
A risk taker?
Good with money?
Bad with money?
Steady?
Emotional?
Positive?
Negative?
You get the idea.
Every day, you are adding or subtracting to your brand, whether you realize it or not.
Your brand is built by what you do, what you say, and how you show up, and it's either making life easier or harder for you.
Let me explain.
Imagine that you are trying to raise money for an investment but your brand (aka reputation) is not reliable.
Do you think it will be easier or harder to raise money?
Will having this negative brand make you more money or less money?
Let's use something simpler.
Imagine you are constantly late to important meetings βwhat does that brand say about you?
Do you think that being late for important meetings helps or hurts your business or career?
A good brand makes everything in your life easier and a bad brand makes everything harder.
It's that simple.
Brand Audit:
The reality is that it's hard for us to see ourselves outside of ourselves.
We are too close to the problem and it takes a brave person to look in the mirror objectively.
If you are willing to be brave and you are open to being vulnerable to get better, I am going to suggest you conduct a 3rd party brand audit on yourself.
I recommend reaching out to my business partner, Jessica Swingle, who has helped me build both my personal brand and the GRID global brand.
You can book a FREE 20-minute strategy call with Jess directly to walk you through everything I'm talking here.
Hire someone to go out into the marketplace to provide you with real-world feedback on you and your business.
This is a scary thing to do but it's also the thing that will help you create the breakthrough you need.
After all, if we keep doing the same things, we will always get the same results.
It's time to face the mirror and slay the dragon that is holding you back.
Easy? Hell no! Worth it? Absolutely!
WARNING: Only do this if you genuinely want to grow and get better, otherwise, it might be too painful an exercise if you are going to take it personally and not do anything about it.
The good news is that your brand can be improved in an instant!
As I write this, I am reminded of the story A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.
In it, Ebenezer Scrooge is known for being a mean, cold-hearted, money-grubbing human (his current brand).
On the night of Christmas Eve, he is visited by 3 ghosts βthe ghosts of Christmas, past, present, and future, and they reveal how his actions (aka BRAND) ultimately lead him down a path of death and loneliness.
Essentially, they provided him with a Brand Audit.
The intervention by the three ghosts helped transform Ebeneezer because the journey they took him on was incredibly painful for him to experience.
So much so, that the next day he woke up knowing that it wasn't too late and that he still had time to change and he immediately started building a new brand, one of love, joy, and compassion.
Scrooge was brave enough to change and so can each of us, we just need to be brave enough to do it.

βP.S. I am looking for people who LOVE real estate investing who want to build their brand as the investor voice in their market, grow their influence, increase their deal flow, and help others build wealth by building a hyperlocal real estate investor community in their area.
If that's you, book a quick 20-minute call with me here and let's chat more about the opportunity.
