Adapt or die 🔌
Hey Income Flippers,
Recently, I have been watching the Netflix Series "Life on Our Planet."
My biggest takeaways...
1) Our time alive is infinitesimally short in the grand scheme of things.
2) All life, since the beginning of time, has focused on one thing—survival.
So how does this apply to us and what can we learn?
In this newsletter in 5 minutes or less, I'm going to cover what I'm doing in both of these areas, and hopefully, it will spark some ideas for you.
1) Income Flip Principle: Build Your Machine to Optimize for Freedom and Happiness.
2) Adapt or Die.
Our time on this planet is really, really, really short.
Too short in my opinion.
There is so much I want to see, do, and learn and I'm not sure one lifetime is long enough.
The problem I've experienced, and I'm sure others can relate, is that we spend a lot of time doing things that we have been programmed to do.
I spent the first 20 years of my life learning my way through the world being programmed on how to think and act.
The next 20 years of my life were spent learning to survive and grow on my own.
I started my family, and company and created the direction I want to grow towards.
The last 10 years have been spent learning, growing, and focusing on building the machine to optimize my time so I can focus on the people and the things I love.
Honestly, it has all gone by way too fast.
My daughter Isabella is 21 and is now embarking on her journey and I'm proud to see who she has become.
I remind her often that it goes by fast but at that age you think you are going to live forever.
But we are not, which is why I believe it's important to "Build Your Machine" to optimize your freedom and happiness.
So what the heck do I mean by that?
In short, get out of the weeds and look up, look around, and ask yourself the following:
1) Is there a better way to do this?
2) Am I building what I want to build?
3) Am I spending time in the areas that matter?
A basic example in my life was when I went from a solo entrepreneur doing everything to hiring my first assistant.
My life got better by asking better questions and then seeking the knowledge and people who could help me hire an assistant.
(By the way, If you haven't read the book Buy Back Your Time, I would highly encourage you to do so. It's a great book on how to hire and delegate all the things that suck your life away.)
At first, I thought that hiring an assistant was an expense but soon learned that hiring an assistant was an investment in my time and happiness.
This was an important step in building the machine because I started getting back my time. And as I pointed out earlier, each minute that goes by is one minute closer to our inevitable death.
Morbid, I know, but I want to make sure you understand how important this is.
This is why you need to ask yourself the questions I outlined above. When I asked myself the question, "Am I building what I want to build?" I realized I had been building my team in the image of other real estate teams.
Somewhere along the way, I lost track of my initial goal (freedom) and spent 10 years focused on the wrong thing—production.
10 years is a long time.
Don't get me wrong, my journey in those 10 years brought me skills to help me expand my business but I got distracted.
I don't want this to happen to you which is why I'm so passionate about this topic...
I want to help you escape the grind.
Adapt or Die
If you are a real estate agent reading this, you know what I'm talking about.
With the recent commission ruling, we are going to have to learn to operate differently.
Those who adapt will thrive and those who don't will go out of business.
Here are some things I'm making sure my team does to adapt:
Every agent is a listing agent. My job is to give every agent on my team the skills to control inventory.
We give sellers options. One of those options is generating multiple cash offers in 72 hours by leveraging our GRID platform.
We are in the process of evaluating new platforms to broker our deals.
We are creating partnerships with large institutions to sell their assets.
We are teaching every agent on our team the game of real estate investing.
We are expanding our Agent-Investor Model with talented teams across the country.
In the last 24 months, we have started 3 new businesses that serve the real estate investment community (my tribe):
âś… Hard Money
âś… Property Management
✅ Asset Acquisition and Disposition
We started these businesses to diversify our income.
We realized several years ago that the real estate landscape was changing and that we needed to change with it.
We needed to Adapt or Die.
If you want to learn how to adapt to the changing market, you should consider enrolling in our Income Flip Class.
Or not. 🙂
The choice is yours.
