Who do you have to become? π―
Hello, Income Flipper!
It started with a hypothesis that originated from pain.
Like so many other real estate entrepreneurs my career started by calling my sphere, making cold calls, and attending business networking events, and while I was good at it...I knew there had to be a better way.
I would lock myself up in a room and just call people all day long making one connection at a time - it felt inefficient, exhausting, and painful. That said, it was effective but it felt slow.
One day I asked myself a better questionββWho would I have to become and what would I have to do, to attract people to me vs constantly chasing?β
That single question changed everything.
Two years earlier my wife and I had decided to become full-time real estate investors with no clue, no plan, and no mentor. We made a lot of mistakes but we also did a lot of things right and I felt that I could help other real estate entrepreneurs on their journey.
That's when I decided to start a real estate investing Meetup, the one I wish always existed but could never find. One whose ethos was to give, contribute and help people grow.
I wanted to create a community that fostered collaboration over competition and celebrated the real estate entrepreneur on their journey.
That first meeting started with 5 people and today it's grown to 30,000 and I feel like we are just getting started. That is the power of collaboration and connection.

So, why am I telling you all this?
It's because you have to start by thinking about who you want to become vs what you want to build. What you build will be a direct reflection of who you become.
John Maxwell, author of The 21 irrefutable laws of leadership begins with the Law of the Lid.
In essence, the law states that your business is a direct reflection of your leadership lid.
This means that you need to focus on acquiring skills that help you grow as a leader.
Many agents and investors get stuck in the "doing" of the business because they fail to grow as a leader. So they repeat the same year over and over again wondering why they are not moving forward faster (I know, I've been there).
They often think the key is "selling more" but it's not.
It's growing your "leadership lid" and that of those around you.
So, how do you do that?
Like any new skill, you need to become a student. You need to find mentors and coaching to help you grow. And here is a little secret....it starts with being a good self-leader first.
How can you possibly lead others when you have not mastered the ability to lead yourself?
So how do you become a great self-leader?
Start by keeping the promises you make to yourself.
Stop making excuses and start finishing all the things you said you would do.
Yes, it's hard AND....in the words of Rocky, "That is how winning is done.β
You are not going to get it right the first time but you keep moving forward until you do it.
Don't quit, everyone else does...but you're not everyone else.
βDare to become the person you see in your dreams.
So let me ask you again...
Who do you want to become?
Keep Moving Forward,
Rob
P.S. Breaking news! Are you an agent who currently works with investors? This week I launched the Agent-Investor Referral Network (Powered by GRID) on Facebook. I invite you to join me and thousands of agent-investors across the country.
