The power of M.O.R.E. 🫗
Hi Income Flippers,
We can't run from it.
We need to face the truth.
We are not doing enough in our business to move the needle in a significant way.
Perhaps you are the exception, but for most of us, we know we have more to give.
I remember reading Grant Cardone's book, The 10X Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure, many years ago and thinking, "What a dumbass book." All he is talking about is doing more, I'm already maxed out!"
Funny enough, when I listened to the book on audio, it landed differently. I was fired up to do more (it was something about Grant's energy), but my limiting beliefs kept screaming at me..."Ok, but how?"
Last year, after attending one of the largest social media conferences in the country, I heard the same message...
"Do more."
More content.
More posts.
More value.
Again, I get it, but how?
If that wasn't enough, I just got done reading Alex Hormozi's 100M Leads.
His book is a framework to help us generate more engaged leads —something we all need.
And wouldn't you know it, the central message of the entire book is "Do More."
So let's unpack that.
In this newsletter in 5 Min or less, I will cover some lessons I have learned along the way that have allowed me to "do more" while balancing my life, as well as some nuggets I have pulled from Alex's book to help all of us on this journey.
✅ Income Flip Framework: The Power of M.O.R.E.
✅ 3 strategies to do more without sacrificing your life.
✅ My big takeaway after spending the weekend in Miami celebrating 22 years of marriage.
To continue on our theme...earlier this year, I had the opportunity to listen to Ed Mylett give an incredibly powerful keynote speech.
In his book "The Power of One More", he discusses the power of having a "One More Mentality."
One more call.
One more step.
One more rep.
One more action.
One more day.
Towards your vision (this is important).
Just when you think you can't give anymore, do "one more." This eventually shapes your life.
In addition, one of his central themes is "You can never lose if you never quit."
Alex Hormozi says the EXACT same thing in 100M Leads. So do countless other trainers and motivational speakers.
So, if we know the truth of what we need to do, why do so many just keep repeating the same year over and over again, or worse, why do so many people quit the business?
Why aren't we pushing ourselves and emptying our tank and launching to new levels?
After much thought, I believe there are 3 things holding us back.
1) Lack of Clarity.
If we don't know what we are building, we will never be able to build it.
Sounds like a throw-away statement, but it's not. We need to get really quiet. Ignore what others are doing and get clear on what we want from this life.
If you don't have clarity, you end up getting exhausted because it's hard to see progress.
2) Lack of consistent focus.
I heard John Maxwell speak at an event many years ago and he said something that has stayed with me all these years.
A person from the audience asked him how he had been able to write so many books.
His answer: "I write something every day."
"On vacation, on my birthday, on Christmas day, every day, for 40+ years."
The crowd was silent as they processed his words and the magnitude of his statement. He then went on to clarify an important point.
"I didn't say all day, I said every day."
Powerful.
The message was clear —time on task over time is a superpower. Are we doing something every day to move our business forward?
3) Lack of intensity and volume.
I wrestled Division 1 in college and if you were a college athlete, you know the level of dedication required to compete.
In my freshman and sophomore years, I had a really good coach who got recruited to another college. He was great, I really liked him and I was sad to see him leave.
A new coach was brought in who had been a 2 time All-American.
All I can say was, "Holy Sh$$."
The level of intensity in our workouts went up 3x.
As an All-American, his standards were different, and guess what happened?
We all got a lot better and ended up winning the conference and sending the most wrestlers in our history to the National Tournament.
In short, we put in the work required to compete at the highest level. Our point of reference had shifted.
The funny thing is, if you had asked me whether I thought we worked out hard before he arrived, I would have said yes.
Looking back, those workouts were a joke. I didn't realize how far I could push my body until our new coach arrived.
I have no doubt you work hard, but do you work out hard enough to be in the top 1%?
It took someone with different standards to show me what champions do.
Make sure you are surrounding yourself with a champion on your field.
The best of the best.
Watch what they do and elevate your standards to the work required to hit your goals.
In short, "The Power of M.O.R.E" reminds me to play like a champion.
Massive
Output
Rewards
Earnings
If you want to increase your income, you're going to have to increase your intensity and output.
There is no way around it.
But how do we do this without breaking our families, our mental health, and everyone else around us?
Here is what has helped me on the journey:
1) I focus on the most important activity and set a commitment to hit that target daily.
I don't focus on the hours, instead, I focus on the activity (output).
If I hit my activity goal in 2 hours then I'm done for the day.
All that matters is that I hit my activity goal. When I do that, everything else falls into place. Alex calls this 'Open to goal.'
2) Once I made a little money, I hired administrative help to handle everything except my core activity.
This freed me mentally from all those little details that cause so much mental weight.
Today, you can hire someone for $1,500 a month that can handle just about everything for you.
I find so many of us are working hard on low dollars per our activities. If this is you, stop doing this. All this does is make you tired of bullshit stuff.
Instead, focus on high dollar-per-hour activities. These are things only you can do and can't be easily outsourced.
3) I create weekly space to do things that bring me energy and joy.
Currently, I'm in Florida enjoying my 22 wedding anniversary. It's a 10-day trip and I am mixing work with pleasure. That's how I like to do it. It brings me energy and joy.
The balance of changing location and scenery has always helped me stay focused and energized.
As I mentioned, I'm celebrating my 22nd wedding anniversary in Miami and my big takeaway are these:
1) It goes by really fast. Savor every moment.
2) I am lucky I found a spouse who understands and supports my entrepreneurial nature (otherwise I would not have been able to finish this newsletter).
3) People work hard to try not to work. This sounds like death to me. I have a vision for my life and each day I make progress towards that vision, this brings me intense joy.
Ok, off to the pool.
